Must Have Beach Accessories

Your swimsuit. Check. Your fave among your beach bags. Check. But how about your beach accessories?

Check out some beach accessories that you should always have from the essential to the fashionable before heading out to the beach.

SUNSCREEN

If I could offer you only one tip for the future, sunscreen would be it.

According to The Skin Cancer Foundation, using sunscreen along with seeking shade, using cover ups, putting on hats and sunglasses are what complete a total sun protection regimen. When choosing a sunscreen, make sure to get an SPF 15+ or higher which is the universal standard for UV protection. Using an SPF 15+ sunscreen generally means you’re 15 times longer (about five hours) protected from the sun before turning as red as a lobster, against when you go without lathering on some sunscreen.

Apply sunscreen 30-minutes before heading out to the beach for the ingredients to bond with the skin, ensuring maximum protection. Also, always remember to re-apply sunscreen every two hours and immediately when you get out of the water. Most bags would have lots of pockets for your beach accessories wherein you can store your sunscreen for easy-access when it’s time to re-apply. Some may find this a little tedious but then it’s better than getting premature wrinkles, skin leathering and sagging or worst skin cancer.

WATER

Unlike all other beach accessories, water will cost you nothing. So there is just no excuse why you wouldn’t throw bring a water bottle or two with you before hitting the beach.

If you’re a beach bum, who consider lounging on the sand and soaking up the sun as an activity, drink at least the regular eight glasses of water to keep you from getting dehydrated. And if you’re the type who turns the beach into a personal playground, it’s recommended that you drink before, during and after any demanding physical activity for hydration. Studies have shown that drinking water improves one’s ability to focus, which means drinking water can mean the difference between winning a beach volleyball bet or treating everyone to dinner.

BEACH COVER UPS

Whether you have a simple one piece swimsuit or a glammed up designer bikini, a nice beach cover up as one of your beach accessories can always complete any beach look. Although the tie-dye cover up remains to be the most popular, there are now many different styles of cover ups to choose from to add as your must have beach accessories. There’s the tunic and kaftan that you can wear over your swimsuit when at the beach or wear together with drawstring pants when you’re shopping for souvenirs.

But for the more experimental when it comes to their fashion choices, designers like Zimmermann offer silk jumpsuits as alternative for the regular cover ups. Which can easily go from day to night just by adding a pair of earrings or a long necklace as beach accessories. And for a more summery feel, check out French Connection’s printed rompers

However, not only do beach cover ups make you look really cute, it also protects you from getting too much sun especially during the hours of 10AM to 4PM when the sun is at its strongest.

TOWEL

Most quality beach bags, especially the designer beach bags, come in bundled with beach accessories such as a matching set of towels, and it’s not just there for decoration it’s there for a reason. One of the most common infections people get during summer is a yeast infection which comes from not drying off properly among other things.

To avoid getting a bummer summer, shower thoroughly after swimming to wash off sea water. Then make sure to put that designer towel to good use by drying off completely before putting on your change of clothes and choice of beach accessories.
